Year in photos!

January 4, 2007 by Mark Cornelison

THIS is why we are photographers and not writers. It is just the way it is. Photographers make pictures and writers write. You rarely find someone who can do both very well anyway. Writers think they can be  photographers and photographers feel like they can write if need be. BUT, need not be, which brings me to the subject of this post. We Herald-Leader staffers put up year end slide shows that now include audio tracks of us commenting out our year and telling a few stories. Sounds much easier than it is.

I literally sat and stared at my collection of photos for over an hour trying to decide what to say about them.  The old "this is a great job" or, "I am so lucky to be a photographer" deal gets old quick. I know the job is cool, but I don’t feel like I have to tell everyone else each year. Coming up with what I hope to be interesting banter is kind of hard. I have never been one to talk up my photos too much so I leave it up to you. I picked out some of my favorites including shooting food for the "Flavors of Kentucky" cookbook which was something different and fun, but other than that it’s just a matter of trying to make things look better than the year before’s show.  I think I did pretty well, but you check it out and let me know. Enjoy! Click here to: GO TO SHOW

Okay, maybe I’m an idiot, but all I see is the photo of cornbread (which is great, by the way). Where can I find the slideshow?
