Super soak!

This post is a little delayed but I am actually just now drying out from the Super Bowl this year! As many of you know, Ron (Garrison) and I went to Miami to do the Super Bowl for McClatchy Photo service. We got to Miami and had a great time. It was a little cool but hey, it was better than the 7 degrees we had here when we left.
We went through the whole week with the threat of rain come game day. I don’t know if we were in denial, or just didn’t want to believe that it could actually rain. It did rain. All day and all night.
Despite having some of the best rain gear available, I chose not to take it. My cameras were nice and covered but Ron and I took a beating. Of course, Ron headed for shelter after one quarter. He had tried to use a computer cover to send my photos from the seat next to me but the rain was just too hard. I had to endure it for hours. When I sat down after the halftime show my pants bubbled with water. I was saturated. I lost a pair of Gore Tex boots cause they filled with water running down my legs. Gore Tex is great at keeping the water out but once you fill your shoe with it, it is also hard to dry out. Talk about stink!
Don’t get me wrong, Super Bowl was awesome even with the rain, but I had to ask Ron … how long do we do this job and how old do we have to be before we stop learning lessons all the time. I guess it is never ending.
