A Contribution to Society

April 10, 2008

Julia Steinman, 17, was diagnosed with down syndrome at birth. “My desire is for her to be independent and contribute to society,” says Meg Steinman, Julia’s mother. The doctors told Julia’s parents she would not develop and be a contributing member of society. Julia is proving those doctors wrong. A sophomore at Lafayette High School in Lexington, Julia works in the kitchen at the Child Development Center of the Bluegrass where she attended as a child. She is loves playing sports, listening to music and like many teenagers throughout the country, playing wii.
