Bike commuting safety tips

1. Wear a helmet.

2. Obey all traffic laws.

3. Do not ride against traffic.

4. Use hand signals.

5. Use lights at night.

6. No passengers, except a child in an approved carrier.

7. Don’t weave in and out of parked cars.

8. Be alert at intersections and when turning left.

9. Make eye contact to be sure drivers see you.

10. Don’t go straight in turn lanes.

11. Know what is behind your bicycle at all times.

12. Watch for opening car doors.
