Wednesday evening, June 10, several dozen supporters walked a length of Tates Creek Road in Lexington to demonstrate the need for sidewalks there and elsewhere along that road. But not everyone present agreed.

The video was a great way to show the great need for these walks. If not walks, then those unpaved sidewalks need to be cleared out so pedestrians do not have to walk in the street. I wish I had known about the walk because I could certainly have participated. We need those walks!
Who says sidewalks have to be “straight as the crow flies”? Winding in and out of the trees, and a bit curvy, sidewalks become interesting, and could possibly save the oxygen producing trees along Tates Creek. Perhaps some homeowners would allow a small portion of their expansive front yards to be used to provide a walkway for wheelchairs and wheeled toddler vehicles. What a nice thing that would be!
