Mt. Sterling airport hosts Young Eagles Day.
Chapter 1227 of the Experimental Aviation Association in Mount Sterling participated in National Young Eagles Day at the Mt. Sterling-Montgomery County Airport. Members gave about 20 children age 8-17 a tour of the airport and a brief lesson in aviation. Low visibility due to foggy weather delayed the flights by about an hour and a half, but then each child got a view of Mount Sterling from the window of a plane. Two single engine Cessnas piloted by Ron Hill and Gary Cockrell were on had for the “There’s my house” flight. Other landmarks that interested the children from the sky were the local schools, downtown Mt. Sterling and Wal-Mart.
