Dawn on the backside

On the backside, the focal point for the fans and the media is at the press center and a couple of viewing stands. Activity starts early on the track - usually at around 4 a.m. But most of the spectators, photographers and writers begin to gather around dawn when they can actually see the reason they came - the horses.
