Goshen Primitive Baptist Church

The one room Goshen Primitive Baptist Church was begun in 1979. Approximately a dozen members attend services in a building with no air conditioning or plumbing. Services are simple, and hymns are sung without accompanying musical instruments.

Versailles Cemetery Vandalized

More than 150 headstones were knocked over and broken during a night of vandalism at the Versailles Cemetery, 201 South Locust Street in Versailles, Ky. By mid-afternoon, people were arriving to check on the condition of the graves of their loved ones. Photographs by Charles Bertram

Abraham Lincoln Bicentennial Celebration

The Kentucky Abraham Lincoln Bicentennial Celebration was held in his hometown of Hodgenville. Several celebrations were held around town including a flag raising and wreath-laying ceremony on Lincoln Square in downtown and ceremony at the Larue County High School were the U.S. Mint unveiled a redesigned Lincoln one cent coin.
